Coach Education


CHARLESTON, S.C. (Sept. 21, 2021) – US Club Soccer is launching a month-long “Importance of Coaching Education” interview series. The interviews will showcase continued coaching education efforts being made by leagues and clubs across the country and the significance of coaching education in the sport.

Starting on Wednesday, September 22, US Club Soccer will feature several league directors that have hosted U.S. Soccer Federation C, D and Grassroots coaching courses this summer. The interviews will be streamed live on US Club Soccer’s Facebook page at

In summer 2021, US Club Soccer has hosted over 100 courses in 12 states, and has educated over 1,000 coaches in that time span. Since 2018, US Club Soccer has hosted over 450 Grassroots and D courses. US Club Soccer has also hosted five C courses in several regions in 2021.

The NEP is committed to supporting our coaches with coach education and professional development opportunities.  We believe that a coach can never stop learning and can always improve themselves in order to best support the players they are working with.  Below is a list of our upcoming courses available to all of our NEP Member Club coaches!

USSF D License


Eligibility Requirements: In order to register for the grassroots modules, candidates must be at least 16 years old* and have completed the U.S. Soccer's Introduction to Grassroots Coaching module. 


USSF Coach Support Documents

To best support our NEP coaches, team managers and clubs and families please take note of the following USSF Coach / Player support documents.  These documents are part of the USSF Grassroots courses (4v4, 7v7, 9v9, 11v11 & D License).  These are helpful guidelines for our coaches to utilize to ensure that they are supporting our developing players and maximizing our competitive seasonal play!

Coaching License Pathway Information

Understanding the pathways to further coach education and licensure can sometimes be challenging to understand due to the variety of coaching licenses, badges and diplomas both here in the United States but also abroad.  Below are some helpful guides for our NEP coaches to follow!

To register for the U.S. Soccer D Course, candidates must meet the following prerequisites:

  • Introduction to Grassroots Coaching
  • 11v11 Grassroots In-Person
  • One (1) Additional Grassroots In-Person (4v4, 7v7, or 9v9)
  • One (1) Grassroots Online (4v4, 7v7, 9v9, or 11v11)


  • Introduction to Grassroots Coaching
  • Previously Earned USSF E License


  • Introduction to Grassroots Coaching
  • Previously Earned USSF F License
  • 11v11 Grassroots In-Person
  • One (1) Additional Grassroots In-Person (4v4, 7v7 or 9v9)
